Dear Reader,
Please allow me to briefly introduce the institutions organized around the Foundation of Political History. Being a public utility organization, the Foundation is aiming and organizing the multifold scientific research of the recent past and the present age. Besides history it is widening its focus on other social sciences as well. It helps the birth of new scientific results with tenders, scholarships, support of individual and team researches. The Foundation maintains the Institute of Political History, and enables the public usage of the documents of national value kept in the archives and library of the Institute. For the publication of the results of the researches the Foundation operates a detached publishing house, Napvilág Kiadó. The head of the advisory board of the Foundation is István Orosz, member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.
The Institute of Political History is a company outside the governmental institute-system and as a public utility private research place it allows open access to its archives and library.
Besides the historical and societal research works, it hosts scientific conferences and cultural events as well. It is a kind of intellectual center that is concentrating first of all on renewing and popularizing social criticism in the widest range of the term.
For these aims we publish the historical quarterly Múltunk (Our Past) and the social critical monthly Egyenlítő (Equalizer).
In 2010 we celebrated the 20th anniversary of the Foundation of Political History with a series of scientific events.
Please, have a look at the activity of our Institute and publishing house!
Sincerely,
György Földes
secretary of the Foundation of Political History
chief director of the Institute of Political History
